Day 4 - Pacung to Legian (The return of the Hostage )
The Rally Crews prepared for the final leg of the Race to the finish line
A very big night was had by all at Pacung Indah (as promised by David & Moira)
The nights entertainment included a magnificent buffet dinner followed by
live Gamelan Band and fantastic Joged Dancers
Many of the crew were reluctant to join in the dancing but eventually persuaded
to participate ... each with their own style .. some with very different styles!
The award for the most interpretive version of Joged went to Nav for his chicken
dance ... much to the delight of the crowd and other dancers.

After a great night of feasting and entertainment it was time to get down to the real
business of finishing the Rally
Now Andretti had spent a lot of time "safety tagging & stickering" most of the opposition
vehicles in an attempt to ensure a "sure win". He even attempted to enlist the services
of our friendly Polisi, pointing out to them the presence of "Yellow Transport Defect stickers"
and "Danger Do Not Operate Tags" located on most vehicles
His world came crashing down when the Polisi simply replied "no problem in Bali" with a very
big smile ..... foiled again Andretti
So now there was a real challenge on .... the race down the hill for the remaining 3 cars
minus the Polisi escort ... no holds barred
True to form Andretti jumps the starters gun and is off down the hill ... hotly pursued
by Jim & Sue. Team Cracker was caught off guard while attempting to re-arrange the seating
for the "tin lids" ... but soon was in the chase.
Now things were a bit different on this leg .. no Polisi escort .. damn we have to stop for
Red lights and other traffic. Team Cracker had soon taken over 2nd position and was hot
on the tail of Andretti and the Team1 Feroza
After many attempted,(failed), overtaking maneuvers the cars split on the outskirts of Legian
with Team Cracker convincing Jim that he new of a "Secret Village shortcut".
Team1 opted for the Oberoi Rd shortcut and was feeling quite confident until traffic suddenly
ground to a halt ... where are the Rally Polisi when you need them most
After what seemed a life time Andretti breaks through and is on Jl Legian and the home straight
With no sign of the other teams and unsure if Crackers secret shortcut had paid off Team1
raced towards Bali@Cyber Cafe and the final checkered flag !
Screaming into the driveway ... success !! .. the Bali Rally Cup was safe .. no sign
of the other teams ! ... another magnificent win for Bali Rally Team#1
Andretti was happy to sit out the front of Bali@Cyber and wait for the remaining teams
Seems like the Team Cracker secret shortcut had resulted in a dead end street "wrong way go back"
This small mishap cost the other teams a full 18mins ... just ask Andretti he will tell you !
Our host Mr & Mrs Hostage ensured that plenty of ice cold Bintang and huge amounts of
food were ready and waiting for the triumphant Rally teams ... many thanks from all of us
Thirsts were truly quenched and everyone fed to the max ... but there was still an outstanding
task to be completed. Despite numerous attempts, and many near missed by Andretti, the coverted
"First Village Chicken Strike" award had not been taken out !. It seems that the sound of screaming
Polisi sirens and numerous car horns had kept the local chickens clear of the roadside
There was only one solution ... we will have to sacrifice the Team1 Chicken mascot !
So the chicken was un strapped and a volunteer called for ... the final result and
First Chicken strike award goes to Jim. A skillful effort in chasing the chicken around
the back carpark of Bali@Cyber Cafe .... well done Jim
So with the Hostage safely returned to his hide-out for another year ... all teams safely
made it through all stages ... it was time to sit back and reflect on another great Rally.
The success of this years Rally was greatly due to the support of may local business
many of who opted to "join the Bali Rally 2005" ... if you are ever in Bali try and
catch up with these guys ... visit Bali Cyber Cafe & Restaurant .. now the home of the
famous Bali Rally Cup ... escape the hustle and bustle of Kuta/Legian and spend some
time at Pacung Indah .. you wont be disappointed ... and of course .. want an ice cold
Bintang and a reliable safe and clean loo stop ... Visit Crackers Bar & Grill at Candi Kuning
There were many others along the way that made the whole event great ... thanks to you all
As always ... no real chickens were actually harmed during this event .. we couldn't
catch them !! .... plenty of Bintang's did not survive .... for this we are truly thankful !
On a very small side note ... Team#1 trusty Feroza "actually died" late on the final night
while we were out celebrating with Mr & Mrs Hostage .... a quick call to the hire car guys
and a mechanic was dispatched .... hey no hard feelings guys ... we did spot it back out
the streets a few days later .... all is not lost !
