The waiting is over ... its race time .... the clock has ticked, time has comeAndretti is pretty fired up !! .. he is keen
to maintain the
"Winning Streak for Team Number 1"
After the fabulous published successes of Bali Rally 2003
and the original Rally of 2001
can the journey continue ?
Are we ready for another round ? hhmm ...
There have been many discussions ... soggy beer coaster maps ... empty Bintangs etc
The crew needed some encouragement to get started again .... I know the Jimny will need help !!
It's Official .. the Rally is on ... lockup the chickens, tie up the dogs ... clear
the roads .... the Race is on!
A small but elite group of participants have been selected to participate
in Bali Rally 2005
Final planning details are now underway ... the scheduled start will be 14th June 2005
with the scrutineering event at Bali Cyber Cafe Legian .. a chance to see the Crew and participants ..
The road event to start 15th June .. the Rally to the "Mysterious West" ..
The Proposed Course Proper
(Well probably not so proper & of course everything is written in pencil & subject to change)
It is anticipated that the scrutineering evening of the 14th June, comprised of much merriment
at Bali Cyber Café in Legian, will attract throngs of on lookers. (Yes Andretti .. your fans will be there!)
All will be hoping the Bali Rally Crew, and other Rally participants present, will be signing
the much sort after "T-shirts" made by “Adopta” (the widows of the Bali bombing)
There will be much regaling of each other with stories of near misses (the chickens that got away),
astounding feet's of driving (ok ok .. but let him down gently if you disagree), or as some have
suggested "a night of Bintang, Bravado & Bullsh*t” ..... should be fabulous !
Day 1 – Legian to Negara
After weaving our way through Legian & Seminyak, we head to Mengwi for a small pit stop
then on to Tabanan & the tee-junction at Bajera, (I'm sure Nav will get a "turn left here" opportunity!)
for the coast run from Saka Beach to Medewi beach.
A binnie break (or three) and maybe a Sate (or Nav will sulk)
A funny dunny report (the BOSBALI team will be checking for inspiration .. not)
Then off to Negara
After light refreshments, ( yes Nav .. I'm sure they have Sate), we will embark on
fact finding tour of Negara and surrounds.
Naturally this will include best Bintang spots,(so if you have an establishment in Negara
& want some thirsty customers ... drop us an email)
And in the evening we may even include “Mini Jimny Kana ?” where co-drivers, Pit Crew etc get
a chance race around a course.
The fastest driver may even get his/her name on Crackers Bar & Grill “Wall of Legends”
Day 2 – Negara to Lovina
Heading out from Negara off towards Gilimanuk with a stopover at the "Dam at Palasari Reservoir"
where we will report on some hidden resorts around Warnasari.
On to Gilimanuk for a wander around the harbour port, on to pejarakan fishing village, via the
hot springs for a few well earned binnies and hunt out the local restaurants
Once hydrated, we can head for Lovina
Beach footy & pool sports, ( well maybe a swim up bar ), maybe a durian eating
contest (or smelly fruit fun .. I know Andretti is keen)
Again you could be a "new legend"
Day 3 – Lovina to Pacung (via Git Git Falls)
The hill climb to Candi Kuning Markets for the grand opening of “Crackers Bar & Grill”
This stop over will of course include the placing of the "Tankards", (the Bali Rally Crew have
their Tankards primed and ready), placing of names on the "Wall of Yesterdays Heroes".
After cutting of the opening ribbon, (Nav been doing some major work on being picked for this job !!),
and the downing of the first Cold Bintangs, by the Bali Rally Participants, “Crackers Bar & Grill”
will be open for business. As for the flash new dunnies .... well only time will tell.
After much celebration, and maybe the “christening of the shiny cisterns", we will have
the special stage to Pacung Indah for a vast feast & entertainment night hosted by
Dave and Moira.
A Late night is anticipated for this stopover.
Day 4 – Pacung to Legian (the return of the Hostage to Bali Cyber Cafe)
Ahhh ... Berocca and Panadol!
An early start for Andretti ... rumour has it he has already done a deal with the staff
not to wake the other contestants until 30 minutes after his departure for the final
and maybe blurred stage back to Bali Cyber Legian and the chequered flag.
Their will be the final trophy presentation ... the Famous Bali Rally Cup will be awarded
and displayed at the Cyber Cafe.
So that the abridged version of the Itinerary .. . I sure there will be changes, deviations
and many additions to the plans.
